Regina Knows Holiday Decor!

Recently the Houston Chronicle online (Chron.com) featured Regina in a article entitled “Regina Gust offers tips on seasonal décor”.  Staff writer Melanie Warner Spencer wrote a glowing review.

Regina Gust knows holiday décor.

For more than 20 years, Gust and her sister, Janet Gust, were go-to designers for decking the halls, walls and malls with their company Twins Design. They have their own companies now – and Regina’s work, including the homes of two Houston clients, are featured in this year’s Frontgate Holidays by Design catalog. Guest also contributes tips and video tutorials to Frontgate’s website.

“The inspiration is the décor of the home,” Gust said, who also considers her clients’ passions and personality.

Here, Gust shares three holiday looks she created for local clients. Feel free to steal some inspiration.

Contemporary Organic

Vision: This is not your typical Mediterranean, Tuscan or French-style home. Its clean lines and modern architecture inspired Gust to work with an asymmetrical look. The soft interior color scheme begged for natural touches, and the owner wanted some shimmer mixed in.

Essential elements: A lush, natural-looking garland infused with glass ornaments, dangling glittered snowflakes, aged silver and French ribbons. The garland, textural and airy, blends green, short-needle Norwood pine with long-needle frosted pine.  Inside_1

Traditional Flair

Vision: The owner wanted a traditional Christmas look on the home’s exterior, with red and green glitz to make it festive for her children.  Entry_Way

Essential elements: Red and green ribbon; large, thick, multilayered garland and scores of colored and clear lights up the path to the dramatic entry. The trees are lit to coordinate. The short-needle pine garland is thick and heavy, in keeping with the home’s proportions.

3 Pretty in Pink

Vision: ”Pink is the new red,” Gust said. “It just makes you happy.” An artificial, 12-foot green tree is awash in the pretty color, adding contemporary flavor to a Mediterranean home.

Essential elements: Infuse different shades of pink ribbon, such as lush pink velvet and French pink silk ribbon with various ornaments in felt, velvet, shiny and iridescent finishes – in every kind of pink available. The ornaments range from $2 to $50 each. Artificial pink amaryllis trumpets and poinsettias add another layer of texture.  Tree
